INDIE COMIC PREVIEW

No entertainment industry can grow without networking and cooperation between one medium and another. So every once in a while I like to focus the light on some independent artists whom, in my opinion, deserve far more recognition. This week I'd like to focus on a group of fellows from Carpet Bomb Comics. Those of you at San Diego Comic-Con will notice these guys at the Arcana booth 2415 and probably pick up a copy of their newest work Citizens. (cover follows)

I have the great pleasure of being good friends with the illustrator of the book, Ibrahim Moustafa, who is known throughout Portland, OR for his artistic donations to the annual Wonder Woman Day and Breast Cancer Awareness charities. The brief glimpses of the book that were granted me were spectacular. Written by Eric Hendrix, the book follows some heroic icons with less than heroic attitudes, and a few ne'er-do-well pessimists, blending what we expect from super hero comics with the more logical reality of the existence of powers. Again, check out the website and maybe order a copy of the book, and  SDCC-ers be sure to stop by to see Eric and Michael, they've got some great deals for you on Carpet Bomb merch as well as some cool contests and prizes!
