During an interview on Craig Ferguson, Nic Cage revealed plans for a Ghost Rider sequel entitled Spirits of Vengeance. Heading the project are Crank and Gamer directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Cage suggested taking the second film in a slightly different direction than its predecessor, perhaps even going the R-rated route with it, which many fans agree is where Ghost Rider belongs.
"He's a man possessed by a demon from hell with a flaming skull head and likewise inflamed Cerberus motorcycle. Rated PG-13 for horror violence and disturbing images? Not gonna cut it." - Meinstein83
Marvel sequels haven't been particularly well received this past decade, though that hasn't affected their revenue so far, Spider-Man 3 being the second highest grossing film of 2007. you never know, an unexpected Comic-Con appearance might shed a bit more light on what's being done with ol' Johnny Blaze.
